Jonathan Cooper Sworn In as President of the Knoxville Bar Association

Knox Defense is proud to announce that Jonathan D. Cooper has been sworn in as President of the Knoxville Bar Association (KBA). The Honorable Chuck Cerny administered the oath of office at the Annual Meeting of the Knoxville Bar Association, held in the Main Assembly Room of the City-County Building.

This momentous occasion was attended by judges, practicing attorneys, and law professors, who gathered to welcome the new leadership of the KBA. As the only attorney to take an oath of office at the event, Cooper officially succeeds Carlos Yunsan in the role, continuing a long-standing tradition of dedication to legal governance and professional excellence in Knoxville.

Commitment to the Knoxville Legal Community

Jonathan Cooper has been a longstanding leader in the Knoxville legal community, actively contributing to bar governance, professional ethics, and criminal defense advocacy. In addition to his work with the KBA, Cooper is a past president of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (TACDL), has served as chair of the Knox County Ethics Committee, and was an advisory committee member for the Knox County Mental Health Court.

As a seasoned trial attorney, Cooper brings over 30 years of legal experience to his presidency. His leadership at Knox Defense focuses on criminal defense in both state and federal courts, where he has earned a reputation as a relentless advocate for justice. His commitment to the legal profession and access to justice has made a lasting impact on both his clients and the broader Knoxville legal community.

As KBA President, Cooper will lead one of the most respected local bar associations in Tennessee, fostering professional development, legal ethics, and community engagement among Knoxville’s legal professionals. He will work alongside the newly elected officers and board members, ensuring that the KBA continues to serve as a pillar of excellence in the legal community.
